"Making a Marvelous Transition"

Retirees find there are many adjustments as we age and the retirement transition is one of them where it's not always so obvious! Nor talked about. Bored, restless and stuck was one recent description. Holistic retirement planning is a great way to prepare for these adjustments. Here we'll consider a variety of new ideas and issues we face, like the 4 Pillars AND who you now become in this new season.

Sharon is an Essence and retirement coach, a behavioral scientist, an innovator, author, traveler, speaker, empowerment facilitator and maximizer who believes there’s a golden nugget inside everyone.

From conducting "What Do you Want to Do in Retirement" workshops for senior centers, creating a MeetUp group, hosting the "Maximize Retirement" and "Fresh Courage" podcast to recently writing her first book, she has planted lots of seed. Her 50 plus-year career included GTE/GTEDS, USPS, IBM, Ameritrade and Boeing, from which she retired in 2016.

"Captivating," "splendor" and "synergy" are her favorite words. After growing up on a farm as the middle of five children and recovering from sexual abuse, now she whistles at birds daily while on her walks, noticing what’s growing, blooming or going to seed. She quilts and grows geraniums and petunias. She loves wisdom and Hallmark movies. Her goal is to support many young women’s educations with college scholarships.

Sharon worked in information technology testing and debugging business applications, advancing in responsibilities while taking night and weekend courses to finish her bachelor's degree in administration and her master's in applied behavioral science. She joined Toastmasters along the way and took a Dale Carnegie course. Her transformation came just after retiring, when from a mental strength webinar, she garnered the truth that the things that brought her the best memories happened when she was in front of people. Such an “aha” – had she been in the wrong career?

Acting as if she was meant to be an influencer and leader, she opened up to becoming a podcast speaker and international speaker. Now her happiness comes from the joy of unleashing others’ dreams all over the world.

"Reach, Engage and Win the Female Dollar"

The power of the female dollar is growing, Learn why and how you can reach females in your practice. We will cover why financial institutions don’t market to women, tactics to implement today to grow this segment of your business, and a proven, six-step process to engage with female clients and prospects.

No stranger to hard work and challenges, Barbara Provost, has leveraged her strong experience, active research and continuous data gathering activities to solve a problem. Barbara found that women are consistently overlooked by insurance and financial institutions, to the tune of leaving a possible $14 million of untapped sales on the table. Not only is this buying power being ignored for lack of tailoring to women, this powerful demographic is underserved and under-planned for their financial future.

With that sole purpose in mind, Barbara developed expertise on what these institutions need to reach and engage women, creating the first empowerment, education, and training tool to earn the vast spending power of the female dollar.

In addition to Purse Strings, Barbara is President of Provost Consulting Inc. She and her team have decades of experience working with insurance and financial organizations developing training programs that make learners competent and confident in the work that they do.
