Dress for Success
WIFS is giving back at Conference this year by supporting Dress for Success Phoenix. This nonprofit organization empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire, and the development tools needed to help them thrive in work and in life.
Dress for Success Phoenix designs and delivers programs to help women overcome challenges for every phase of their personal or professional journey, whether they are a job seeker, an employed professional or someone ready to be a leader in their community. Through first-in-class partnerships, the nonprofit offers outcome-driven programs to ensure women are getting hired, being promoted, receiving well-earned raises, networking with other professional women, and gaining control of their finances.
We have several opportunities for you to participate and give back:
1. Donate Clothes. Your fabulous suits and other professional apparel could furnish another woman with the confidence she needs to enter or return to the workplace, make a great first impression and land a job that could change her life. There is a desperate need for sizes 0, 2, 4, 14, 16, 18, plus sizes, junior sizes, and closed-toe pumps and flats. We kindly ask that you please ensure that all items donated are freshly dry cleaned/laundered and ironed, not more than 5 years old, and suitable for wearing to job interviews.
You can bring your donations to Conference or, if you have more than will fit in your suitcase, ship them ahead of time to Dress for Success, 1024 E. Buckeye Road, Suite 165, Phoenix, AZ 85034. Or if you prefer, donate to a Dress for Success facility near you. Find one here.
2. Purses for a Purpose. What says confidence better than a great handbag? We're raffling off an assortment of designer purses at Conference, so get ready to buy your tickets to win a new bag (or two). Proceeds from the raffle will go directly to Dress for Success.
3. Volunteer Post-Conference.
- Stay after the Conference and join your fellow WIFS members at the Dress for Success facility to sort clothes and create “outfits” for their clients to wear to get that job!
- Support a Dress for Success client by working with her on resume or interview skills. We will have space set up immediately after the Conference.
Brewery Mixer
After our Give Back event on Saturday, join us from 4-6 pm at Greenwood Brewing. This woman-owned brewing company believes in the power of the purposeful pint. In an industry largely dominated by men, women sometimes feel intimidated or underrepresented in the craft beer scene. And while Greenwood Brewing handcrafted ales are for everyone to enjoy, their goal is to create approachable craft beer to allow women to feel welcome in this industry. Because they believe that beer isn’t just tasty; it is an avenue for powerful conversations and positive changes that often begin over a cold one with a friend. They want that friend to be both men and women.
